Portsmouth Newsletter August 21

11th August 2021 | Portsmouth

Welcome

Hello and welcome to the first monthly newsletter under the ownership of Portsmouth Football Club. We recently sent out a survey to all of our members and want to share some of the feedback from this as well as changes we will be making in line with some of these suggestions.

Add more classes
One of the biggest suggestions from you was to include more studio classes. With further lockdown restrictions lifted on 19th July, we were able increase occupancy in most existing classes as well as add more classes to your timetable. Our Studio Co-ordinator, Jennifer, has also been asking for further feedback from members and is in the process of further increasing the class timetable in September as well which we hope to announce soon.

Cleanliness of your changing rooms
While the changing rooms are cleaned outside of opening hours, during the day when our members use them they naturally can be left un-tidy. As per some comments on the survey, we have now implemented an hourly check system where we ensure a member of staff will walk through the changing rooms and tidy anything up they can, close lockers that are left open or get a cleaner to help if it is anything serious so we can make sure this area is checked routinely with sign off sheets on display.

Opening earlier on weekday mornings
From the survey we had requests to open in the week from 0600 rather than 0630. We will update on a specific date once we have this confirmed but we wanted to let you know this change will be happening shortly in early September for you.

Spa area
This is a big part of our operation that we offer and as you know, these have been closed for a couple of weeks now. We are getting lots of requests for updates on this. Quite simply, we don’t want to give a quick fix solution as we have done historically and want to do something once and for all as we can ensure they don’t have to be closed for periods of time in the future. There have been various options looked at and we hope to share some exciting news very soon once we have something in place.

Remove the booking process for the swimming pool
This was brought in once we re-opened in July 2020 with Coronavirus restrictions; this was brought in so we could ensure that there were correct spaces available in line with social distancing. While there were lots of comments about this not being a process that was ideal and stopped a lot of people using the pool as they wanted the freedom to use it as and when. Once restrictions were lifted on 19th July, we also removed this process so once again; you can come and use the pool anytime as it was prior to Coronavirus.

Return of the adult only swim times
As above, this was removed due to booking restrictions, from 19th July these were removed and the adult only swim times returned. These currently are:-

Weekdays

0630-0930            1300-1400            1830-2100

Weekends

0800-0930

Below also are the hours we have a lifeguard

Monday – Friday 1530-1830
Saturday – 0800 -1600
Sunday - 0900-1300

Car park
There were comments about the car park looking overgrown in areas (of course with the frequent lockdowns, we haven’t been open to maintain them and keep on top of them).  We have a company coming out to trim a lot of the natural growth back in the car park area and the Portsmouth Football Club groundsman will be keeping the grass cut going forward

Bring back social events
A lot of comments were received about the nice atmosphere the club has and also that people would like to see the return of social events. We haven’t been able to do anything unfortunately with Coronavirus restrictions so last December for the first time in a long time we didn’t host Darin’s Christmas curry and quiz. We are looking to do a quiz event next month for charity so should be announcing something again soon.

Music in the gym
There was quite a bit of feedback about the music offerings in the gym being slow or unsuitable. We have now changed our music provider so we can offer faster paced but also more popular music for you during your workouts. The music should also be more diverse so you don’t hear the same songs often.

These are just a few of the changes we have already or about to make. The feedback from the survey included many more ideas and suggestions and we want to assure you there are more changes and improvement coming soon and we will announce them once we have them confirmed. We are delighted by the recent acquisition of your health club and are excited to have you, our members, share this journey. Please look out for any updates on social media in the meantime.

Our onsite concessions are all back open and fully operational including the crèche. Please find contact details below for:-
