Chiswick First Quarter Update March 23

23rd March 2023 | Chiswick

Welcome!

Welcome to the March edition of our club newsletter – I hope this finds everyone well. Hard to believe the first quarter of the year is almost done, and we are (hopefully!) firmly headed into Spring! The first few months of the year have seen the club return to its usual vibrant self, after a very quiet end to the year. It is truly wonderful to see so many familiar faces around the club, as well as many new ones. We have had a busy few months behind the scenes and are working on a few projects also to update the club – so watch this space!

15th Birthday

In February we celebrated 15 years of Roko Chiswick! We were thrilled to have so many people take part in our gym floor challenges and celebrate our birthday with us. Thank you to all who took part! We are also so grateful to have many members with us since before we even opened our doors – we have now been in touch with you all individually, but please do drop me a line if this is you and you have not heard from me personally!

Comic Relief Challenge

Last week, we hosted our very own ‘Tour de Roko’, whereby we attempted to cycle the 271.4 miles between all 4 Roko clubs. The fantastic news is that not only did we cover the distance and then some (a huge 525 miles in total!), but we also managed to collectively raise more than £1200 for Comic Relief. A heartfelt thank you to each and every person who cycled on the day or donated to the charity – we are extremely grateful! Please visit: comicrelief.com/what-your-money-does for more information on how the donations will be used

April Holidays

As we enter April, we expect the club to be a little quieter as usual with school holidays. As a reminder, there will be no swimming lessons between Monday 3rd April & Monday 17th April – family swim will continue as normal during these times. As a reminder, our children’s hours (& family swim times) are:
Tuesday / Thursday / Friday – 15:00-18:00 - Saturday / Sunday – 13:00-18:00

Easter Egg Donation

Easter is just around the corner, and this year we will be collecting Easter Eggs between now and 5th April, to donate to children in hospital. These will be going to the children at North Middlesex Hospital northmid.nhs.uk - we will be delivering these on Thursday 6th. If you would like to donate, please bring an egg in to the club and hand to Reception – the hospital is already very grateful that we are going to do this for them, and I am quite sure we can make a difference to their patients this Easter! Any donation large or small is very much appreciated - thank you very much in advance.

Challenges & date for your diary

Following the success of the February birthday challenges, and the Comic Relief cycle, we will be running a challenge each month in the club for all to get involved in, with some fabulous prizes! The next one will be Friday April 28th – this will be a busy day in the club, as we are planning to run various activities and a fayre on that day. More information to follow.

Noticeboard

As you may have seen, we have a large noticeboard now beautifully adorned with many of Eric’s medals! This noticeboard is for everyone – if you have a poster for an organisation you represent, or a business you run, please hand it to us and we will happily display it for you!

Thank you once again to everyone who has taken part in our challenges over the last couple of months, for celebrating our birthday with us, and for taking part in our Comic Relief challenge. As always, if there is anything on your mind, please drop me a line at kmeagher@roko.co.uk, and I will be in touch.

All the very best,
Kati & the Roko Chiswick Team
