Chiswick December23 Newsletter

7th December 2023 | Chiswick

we hope this finds everybody well.

Hard to believe we are almost bringing another year to a close! Prior to heading off, I wanted to get in touch with some news about the club, so please do see below for the latest updates.

Gym Floor

As you may have seen, we have removed a few pieces of kit from the gym floor – however this is all for a good reason! We have some exciting new equipment for your gym floor arriving soon, including a hip thrust machine, which has been heavily requested! We have continued to add kit to the gym floor this year, with the addition of a GHR, new plyo boxes, and new dumbbells to name but a few. This is in addition to 25 brand new spin bikes for our cycle studio. We will continue to add new pieces of kit throughout new year – we do hope you enjoy!

Group Exercise Timetable

As with every year, we will be reducing the timetable over the holiday period, as we know the club will be much quieter. Please keep an eye on the app and our website for the most up to date timetables. We will be back to normal in January, with a few changes, including the reintroduction of a much missed JumpFit class!

Towels

We are working on a solution to the issue we are having with towels over the weekends – we seem to have large numbers disappearing on a consistent basis. We do buy new towels every couple of months, however this is proving somehow not to be enough. For now, we will be sticking to one towel per person, to ensure we have enough to go around. Should you accidentally take one home, please do return it to the club – we are looking at ways of managing the towels more efficiently and appreciate your help in doing so.

Membership cards

We are seeing an increase in members not bringing their membership cards to the club. We do, of course, understand that sometimes these things are forgotten. However, regularly not bringing cards can delay the process of entering the club if the team member on reception is otherwise occupied. If you have lost your card, please do let us know as we have a box full behind the desk! If we could kindly ask that members bring their cards when they attend the club, we would be very grateful.

Christmas Fayre

As per last year, we will be hosting a Christmas Fayre in the club lounge on Friday 15th December. We will be hosting stalls for members to sell decorations, clothes, jewellery, and plenty of other treats for Christmas! If you are interested in having a stall, please contact Ana at agodbolt@chiswickbridge.roko.co.uk

Charity Donations

Books - as you may have seen, we are continuing to house a book donation table close to Reception. We are asking for a discretionary amount to be donated per book, which we are then donating to charity. We have so far raised almost £300, which is really fantastic – thank for your all your donations! We will continue with these books into next year.
Toys - we are now collecting donations of new and unused toys, which we will be giving to The Toy Charity in time for Christmas (The Toy Project - Homepage). They will take all donations and send them to schools, hospitals, and community centres for those children who would not otherwise receive toys over the festive period. We will be taking donations up until Monday 18th December – thank you so much in advance!

Events

Our birthday celebrations, Comic Relief event, Halloween party and all the other events we have held this year were great fun to host, and we do hope you enjoyed them. We have raised some fantastic money for charity, so a big thank you to everyone who participated. We will continue to host events throughout next year, so do keep your eyes out for notifications in club and on our social media pages for more information!

Work on the grounds

As you may be aware, earlier on this year, Latymer School took over the operational running of the grounds where the club is located. They have plans to develop the site, including adding another astroturf pitch, a 3G football pitch, netball courts and cricket pitches amongst other things. The plans are pending approval from Hounslow council, however if they do go ahead, we expect work to start in the new year.
We will be largely unaffected by the works, as the majority of it will take place on the fields and pitches. Our car park will remain where it is, however, access to the car park may be changed. We are working closely with Latymer to ensure as little disruption as possible to our members and the club – however if there are any plans that will directly affect you, we will of course be in touch. We will have posters around the club, we will send push notifications on the app, and we will also email if there is anything significant – therefore please do ensure we have the correct contact details on file for you, so you are up to date with everything.

Pool Retiling

We need to replace some of the tiles on the pool floor and need to close the pool in order to do so. We have managed to secure the divers to do this towards the end of this month, which is great news. This does mean, however, that the pool and spa area will be completely closed from Wednesday 20th December – Friday 22nd December inclusive. We unfortunately cannot have the spa being used whilst there are divers in the pool. Thank you for your understanding.

Farewell, for now

And lastly, as many of you know, I will shortly be going on maternity leave, with this Friday 8th December being my last day in club. I shall be back in the summer next year, however in the meantime, I leave the club the very capable hands of our wonderful team!
Should you have a query related to your membership, please see Darrell or Emily – if it is regarding the gym floor, please see Ana, and if it is regarding the club itself, please see Royston. All of them can be contacted either in club, or at info@chiswickbridge.roko.co.uk

As always, thank you all for your loyalty to the club. I wish you all a wonderful festive period, and a very happy and healthy 2024. I look forward to seeing you on my return in the summer.

All the very best,
Kati & the Roko Chiswick Team
