Manager’s Welcome

As always we hope that all our members are safe and well during this time.

We appreciate everyone supporting the club and following the COVID-19 secure guidance that we have outlined in the club and through our media channels to ensure we are keeping everyone safe. If anyone has any questions on these processes please do not hesitate to ask within club.  

Last month we re-opened our swim school and have had positive feedback from both instructors and members. Due to the smaller groups and safety measures in place it’s great we are able to announce some extra availability. To make an enquiry please contact amy.jopling@porstmouth.roko.co.uk

Given the popularity and reduced capacity of our group exercise classes, we would like to reiterate that if you are unable to attend for any reason, please cancel your booking through the app. (Due to limited class capacity for social distancing purposes we are going to be reviewing our NO SHOWS for class bookings daily, so please, if you are unsure you can attend, please cancel through the app).

We have added an extra morning Aqua class on a Wednesday to double up with our Instructor Amy…

Also due to our recent feedback we have added Spin classes to the evening sessions during the week.

Our members will now also be able to see an increase on our livestreaming platform with a lot more classes and availability. Check out class bookings on the app.

Some great news is last month we re-opened the café bar. The current opening hours are :-

Mon – Fri (9am-1pm) (4pm-7pm)
Sat- Sun (8am -1pm)

Our lane swimming through the app has been a real success since launch, and we would like to thank all the respective members and guests who have followed the guidance and made this a positive, safe and well run experience.

To confirm at present:-
• Lane 1 Fast / Medium swimming          Up to 3 People sharing a lane
• Lane 2 Fast / Medium swimming          Up to 3 People sharing a lane
• Lane 3 Medium / relaxed swimming     Up to 5 People sharing a lane

This month, due to demand, we are also increasing the sessions for Family Swim in the Main Pool (these sessions will be confirmed shortly).

We are also pleased to announce that we have opened squash court No 2 for operation. It is bookable in 45 min slots. Again as a club we have to follow, and ask our members to respect, the Covid secure guidance with Squash participation. The main points are:-
• You need to bring your own racquets and balls.
• You MUST play with people within your own household and or social bubble. (You will be required to fill in a disclaimer before each session of play to confirm you are following this guidance)
• You are not allowed to touch walls to dry hands etc.
• We have dedicated routes to the courts and also significant cleaning time between each bookable session to clean after each session.

We’ve hit the ground running since gyms have opening and we don’t want to stop! It takes 28 days to form new habits. Hit the government recommendations for physical activity by completing 5 workouts a week in October and create new exercise habits!

Elite Challenge

Marathon Month: Complete a marathon a week in October!
October is London Marathon month and although the London marathon as we know it has been cancelled we can still take on the challenge! Walk, jog or run 26 miles per week in October to hit 104 miles in total!

  • You can get fit safely at Roko

  • Maintain social distancing at all times in club, and wear a face covering when not exercising

  • You can attend classes in person and livestream them from home; high energy classes are now being livestreamed along with holistic classes
