Portsmouth Newsletter October 2019

10th October 2019 | Portsmouth

Manager’s Welcome

As the nights draw in and the weather turns, what better way to warm up than to get down to the gym and have a workout.  Hopefully September’s “Sweatember” campaign got lots of you exercising every day during the month and now is the time to continue all that hard work and maintain that health and fitness regime.

Thank you to all members who have filled in our feedback survey that was emailed out. This feedback is really helping the club improve its service to our members. Don’t worry however if you haven’t received yours yet, it's sent out randomly to a few members each day.

So on to October and we have lots of events going on in the month. Last week saw the launch of the new Les Mills programmes and hopefully you all have had a chance to enjoy the latest music and choreography in the classes. If not, make sure you get yourself booked in for a class.

On Saturday 12th October we have a local t-shirt designer coming down to the club with their Pompey t-shirts on sale for members to purchase (great opportunity to get early Christmas presents) and even better than that, for every sale they make, £5 is donated to the Rainbow Centre charity, helping children, adults, families and carers affected by neurological conditions.

On Thursday 24th October we have our very popular Curry & Quiz Night back, hosted by the resident quiz master Darin. Tickets are available from reception.

On Thursday 31st October we are also holding a halloween party for the kids hosted by DNA kids, a specialist children’s party company. This event books out quickly so make sure you book your child’s space via reception.

Lastly onto November. Our Children In Need spinathon will be taking place again on Friday 18th November so look out for more details in next month’s newsletter.

Health and regards,

James Sandercock and your Roko Portsmouth Team

Booking System Update
One of our most common pieces of member feedback is about class bookings, with members not being able to book onto classes as they appear full yet, on occasion, there is still spaces in the class due to other members either not showing up or cancelling at the very last minute.  We are continuing to monitor this with a close eye and actively contacting members who repeatedly abuse the booking system and if re-offending we are then enforcing booking rights bans for 14 days as a penalty system.

As a reminder please can all members remember that, as part of the rules of membership, to attend a class a booking is required. Bookings can be made either online via the app (8 days in advance) or in person or via the telephone at reception  (7 days in advance).

If a member wishes to cancel a booking, the club requires at least 2 hours notice for that cancellation (to give other members fair warning and ability to potentially take that space).

Attendance to a class is recorded when a member swipes their membership card at reception prior to the class taking place when they enter the club. If you forget your card please ensure you ask reception to manually swipe you in.

Don’t forget …
If you’re not getting the results you’re after, getting bored or just fancy a change in your gym routine why not book in (at main reception or gym desk) for a FREE of charge review with one of our personal trainers . It’s all part of your membership!

So if you are looking to get bigger, smaller, faster or go further, give us a shout.

Let us help you reach your goals

We recommend you pick up a food diary (to fill out) a week prior to your appointment as nutrition is key to success in most fitness plans. Keeping hydrated and not skipping breakfast are the two most common improvements to be made for all round health and fitness.

Any questions feel free to ask the one of the fitness team
