Portsmouth Newsletter February 2016

1st February 2016 | Portsmouth

Manager’s Welcome

I trust that you have made a great start to your 2016 health and fitness goals and you are maximising your membership at the club. This month I would love to encourage you to try something new to your exercise routines. We have over 85 group exercise classes taking place each week, table tennis, squash and tennis for those who like to chase a ball or alternatively you can refresh your fitness programme with one of our Instructors.  All of this can be booked from reception so don’t delay in trying something new.

Thank you to all those members who have taken the time to meet with me through the forums last month. It was great to hear such positive feedback on the changes we have made recently and agree the agenda of areas you wish me and my management team to look at in the coming weeks. If you would like to be a part of the next forum in March then please register your name and contact details at reception and I will be in touch once the date has been confirmed.

Healthy regards

Alun Davies

You said, we did

We have always welcomed your feedback in the club around all things Roko. In January we received 29 feedback cards, 18 of which we have successfully found positive outcomes, and 11 of which are a work in progress whilst we strive to find the best outcome for everyone. In this section I would like to bring up the ‘hot topics’ and let you know exactly what we have done and what we have planned for the near future!

You said – “The showers are looking tired and in need to attention!”
What we did – In January we re-grouted, resealed and deep cleaned all showers! And here’s the exciting news…in spring of this year we will be fully refurbishing our showers! We are busy putting the final plans in place to ensure you are provided not only with the best facilities at our disposal, but that disruption to your club routine is kept to a minimum. Further communication will be released once all the details are finalised, so keep your eyes peeled in future newsletter!

You said – “Can you offer Soya Milk in your club lounge?”
What we did - We have now brought Soya Milk into our Club Lounge! At the moment we are trialling the product, and if it’s a popular decision we will be more than happy to offer you Soya milk alternatives on a full time basis.

You Said – “Can you update the music in the Gym?”
What we did – We can go one better, we are in the process of upgrading the entire music system around the club. This will allow us to play a huge database of the latest and most uplifting songs in the gym, relaxing and ambient music in the spa area, and chilled atmospheric music within our Club Lounge. What’s more, we choose exactly what music we have, so we’re all ears for your suggestions.

You Said – “It’s good that you’ve gotten rid of the tacky flags in the pool hall, but can you put something else in place for backstroke swimmers?!”
What we did – This is probably the hottest topic of the month! I would like to assure all swimmers that we WILL be putting in an alternative very shortly. However, the flags will not be back, we are looking at alternatives that are both effective and will fit in with the premium feel of the club.

Comment cards can be found at Reception and all feedback is welcomed. You won’t find the comment box on reception anymore, but please hand the cards to reception who can find somebody to speak to you straight away for an instant response! Alternatively, come and speak to me, Rob, and I would be happy to sit down with you and talk though your suggestions and feedback.

 1:1 Swimming Lessons
Did you know that as well as group lessons for both children and adults; we also offer 1:1 and 2:1 lessons, both during the week day and Saturdays. Extra sessions are also available during the School holidays.

1:1 lessons for children are a great way to introduce them to the water, encouraging water safety, or for preparation for group swimming lessons. 1:1 lessons are also ideal to help fine tune particular strokes in order to accelerate their progression through our swim school programme. 1:1 lessons are also perfect for anyone with physical or learning disabilities.

For adults, 1:1 lessons are a great way to overcome your fear of water, increase your confidence, improve your stroke technique or better your challenge times. We also have an experienced qualified Open Water Coach to help with the transition in to Triathlons or Open Water swimming. It's never too late to learn to swim!

All 1:1 lessons are bespoke tailored sessions to suit your own personal demands and needs. Teachers are able to teach both in the water and poolside, dependent on requirements.
