Nottingham Newsletter November 2019

6th November 2019 | Nottingham

Manager’s Welcome

Welcome to November! That time of year when we start thinking about upcoming festivities, maybe that gives you the extra motivation to up your workouts, whether that be on the gym floor or in your classes.

We are currently hosting our first personal training open week where members have the opportunity to experience a free taster session. If you are a group exercise fan you will have now experienced the new Les Mills releases to take us through the coming months.  Certainly, there are new challenges to be had within these workouts and it always inspires me to see so many of you taking them on and pushing yourselves to reach new levels of fitness.

As I’m sure a lot of our members have noticed, we introduced a survey questionnaire that has been sent out to a number of members already. I’d like to thank everyone who has participated and given us feedback so far. Feedback both good and bad is crucial for us to help improve our offering here at Roko Nottingham.

Don’t forget to follow Roko on social media for all of your latest club news:

Just a reminder that the outdoor pool wrapped up for winter on 31st October and will reopen 1st April 2020..

Best wishes

Group Exercise News - Late cancellations and No Shows
We are really happy that you have taken on board using the Roko App for booking your classes!
A massive Thank You!
We know that occasionally life gets busy and we appreciate that cancelling classes or showing up to them may not be top of your list. However, due to an increase in late cancellations and no shows we will now temporarily revoke members booking facilities if they constantly abuse the booking system.

We understand that it can be frustrating when you are unable to book your favourite class and we hope that by applying this procedure it will encourage members to cancel with as much notice as possible so that others can enjoy and experience their classes.

Class Focus -  (Qi Gong) T’ai Chi
If you're looking for a way to reduce stress, consider tai chi (TIE-CHEE). Originally developed for self-defence, tai chi has evolved into a graceful form of exercise that's now used for stress reduction and a variety of other health conditions. Often described as meditation in motion, tai chi promotes serenity through gentle, flowing movements.

What is tai chi?
Tai chi is an ancient Chinese tradition that, today, is practiced as a graceful form of exercise. It involves a series of movements performed in a slow, focused manner and accompanied by deep breathing.
Tai chi is a non-competitive, self-paced system of gentle physical exercise and stretching. Each posture flows into the next without pause, ensuring that your body is in constant motion.
Tai chi has many different styles. Each style may subtly emphasize various tai chi principles and methods. There are variations within each style. Some styles may focus on health maintenance, while others focus on the martial arts aspect of tai chi.
Tai chi is different from yoga, another type of meditative movement. Yoga includes various physical postures and breathing techniques, along with meditation.

Who can do tai chi?
Tai chi is low impact and puts minimal stress on muscles and joints, making it generally safe for all ages and fitness levels. In fact, because tai chi is a low-impact exercise, it may be especially suitable if you're an older adult who otherwise may not exercise.

What can tai chi do?
Decrease stress, anxiety and depression
Improve mood
Improve aerobic capacity
Increase energy and stamina
Improve flexibility, balance and agility
Improve muscle strength and definition

Our T’ai Chi classes take place in studio 2 on Monday 11.30-12.30 and Thursday 10.45-11.45
