Gillingham Newsletter September 2019

10th September 2019 | Gillingham

Manager’s Welcome

September is upon us. The children have gone back to school, the mornings are getting colder and the days shorter. We hope that you have enjoyed the summer and are ready to come back and get on track with your exercise goals.

There have been some changes over the past month and of course some new ones this month. The spin bikes have been put through their paces and appear to be a welcome addition, the refurbished steam room also has gone down rather well and the children’s programme classes were very popular, so we will be ensuring that we have these running in the future. September sees timetable changes with classes added to it, along with the launch of a new class: Les Mills GRIT. It's hard work; short and sharp, designed to help you achieve your health and fitness goals fast and also to reduce the need to train for 1 hour or more. It's great fun too so look out for it and of course remember to book.

This month also sees us working in partnership with Cancer research UK and we are running our Sweatember program which encourages our members to train every day and try out some new activities and of course help raise awareness of a great cause.

There has been a level of feedback in the club as of late regarding maintenance etc. and I want to assure you that whilst these things are challenging sometimes we are always looking for a swift resolution and we will make sure that any issues raised are rectified (within reason of course - a water slide might be a stretch too far).

For those of you who do not know, we hire our lounge for events and we do have some dates left for this year and next year is starting to book also. So if you have an up and coming event that you would like to potentially run here please let the team know.

In the interests of helping the environment we ask all members, where possible, to use a re-useable plastic bag or similar for swimwear. Although we will continue to provide plastic bags for now, plastic is an ongoing issue and we are aiming to take steps towards helping the cause.

Also just a polite notice, but please park within the parking bays, or of course the overflow carpark, as other areas can and sometimes do cause obstructions and this leads to a poor experience for others.

Thank you all for the last 8 months. I look forward to seeing you all and improving our member and guest experience as we move to the later part of the year.

Sweatember

Are you sweating?  There certainly has been times this summer when the temperature has made us all sweat!  But what about when we exercise? Are you a ‘go through the motions’ sort of person or an ‘all out sweat or nothing’ sort of person?

With this in mind we are throwing down the gauntlet and asking you to sweat through September! All for a good cause of course!

We would like to encourage you to do some exercise that makes you sweat every day for 30 days and it’s all for Cancer Research UK.

We have such a wide range of classes both in the studio and on the gym floor where you can really challenge yourself.  Don’t think that you can’t sweat in pilates, yoga or aqua.  If you put the right sort of effort in then YES you can.

Watch out for gym challenges to keep you motivated or if you prefer come and book your stayfit. for your Sweatember Challenge.

Let’s help give Cancer the Boot! Sign up at:: https://www.cancerresearchuk.org/get-involved/find-an-event/charity-challenges/sweatember

Come and join us for this charity event. Whatever your reasons for working out, be it for lifting your mood, giving you focus, goal specific we look forward to seeing you in club through September.

New Member Surveys – Please Help Us Get Even Better!
We have introduced new member surveys which are sent to you by email at regular intervals and, as valued members, we would love you to help us develop your club by giving insight through these new surveys.

They ask you to give your Roko a score and then confirm the main reasons for giving this score. Your feedback will help us to learn and to develop your club; we can report on it and detect themes making improvements to areas of the club it relates to.  Thank you in advance for helping us to improve – we really appreciate it.
