Chiswick Newsletter January 2019

9th January 2019 | Chiswick

Manager’s Welcome

Happy New Year! A very warm welcome to January! I hope everybody thoroughly enjoyed the celebrations over the last few weeks.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all members I have met so far for making me feel so welcome. I am delighted to be here, and looking forward to continuing the success of the club throughout this year. I am sure you are all as excited as I am about the new kit still to come from Matrix, which we anticipate to be in the middle of the year – we will communicate further details closer to the time.

If you have been in the club recently, you will have seen our Resolutions Wall at the bottom of the stairs. Writing down your resolution and articulating it will make you more likely to stick to it, so go ahead and add to the many goals we already have from our members!

If you do see me in the club, please do introduce yourselves – I would love to get to know as many of you as possible, and very much look forward to seeing you in club soon. I will also be starting to host some member events throughout the year, so please look out for further information in due course!

This month we formally welcome to our Roko team:

  • Bes Dusha as our new Operations Manager

  • Atik Oumast takes his new role as Deputy and Fitness Manager

  • Darrell Harris is now a senior membership consultant

  • Yas Sheldon as a membership consultant

  • Dominika Skolarczyk as our Finance Administrator

And after almost 2 years we say goodbye and thank you at the end of this month to Clare Langer our Fitness Administrator.

All the very best for a happy and healthy 2019,

Kati Meagher, General Manager & your Roko Chiswick team

The Roko App

We wanted to thank you for your take up and usage of the Roko Health Clubs App; we are really pleased that so many members are utilising the convenient way to book and cancel classes, stay in touch with the club and manage bookings. In response to feedback received and to ensure continued great member experience at Roko, the following changes to the Roko Health Clubs App have been made:

You are now able to book classes from 9pm 8 days in advance
Waiting list alert emails for class availability are sent at 7am each morning

It is also important to let you know that although lots of classes show large waiting lists throughout the week, in many cases when the actual class starts there are spaces in the class because either lots of people have cancelled or simply not turned up for the class. To counteract this we are asking for your help and are actively encouraging members to only book classes they are committed to attending and if for some reason they cannot attend to ensure that they cancel their place via the app, over the phone, or in club to allow another member to take that place.

Moving forward should this problem persist we will be enforcing a dishonour rule which will suspend pre-booking rights for a period for members who fail to cancel their space or do not turn up.

Maintenance Update

~ Royston Jones – Maintenance Manager

Thank you for your patience with the extreme humidity on poolside, the air vent and motor have now been fixed. General maintenance is keeping me busy and this month’s priority is filling holes and painting; please bear with us as we get the jobs done.

Do keep the feedback coming.

Best wishes, Royston.

Staff Member in Focus – Yasmeen Sheldon

What is your job role? Sales consultant

How long have you been at Roko and what did you do before? I’ve been here just less than a month and previously worked in sales for various other organisations and as a make up artist.

Favourite things about your job? I enjoy the challenge, challenging myself as I’m very competitive and like to achieve.

Do you have any hobbies? Horse riding, boxing, Netflix and making candles.

If you were stuck on a desert island, what would you have with you and why? I’d have my iphone because I’d have access to music and Netflix to keep me company. Of course the island would have electricity to charge it!

Class update

~ Hugo Camacho, Class co-ordinator and instructor

Noel joined us towards the end of 2018 and as well as teaching Tai Chi he teaches Boxercise, Tuesdays 0930-1030am. Noél Michael Smith is a 4th Dan Kung Fu practitioner, with over 30 years experience.

BOXERCISE is the best stress buster around and is one of the most effective forms of cross-training available today. It combines use of both aerobic and anaerobic energy systems with the systematic recruitment of both fast and slow twitch muscle fibers in a manner that not only ensures a diverse workout, but also enhances sports specific senses, including hand-eye co-ordination, balance and timing. It's a fantastic full-body workout that both tones muscles and improves cardiovascular fitness. Book a Boxercise class today and feel the benefits!

CLASS BOOKING ETIQUETTE:

Dear ALL Members

At present, many of our classes are oversubscribed with members waiting. We therefore ask that members only book classes for the following week if they expect to attend.

If for any reason members are not able to attend a class, we ask that the booking is cancelled via the app or reception at the soonest possible time. This allows other members to be notified of spaces in the class via email, and on the day of the class allows us time to make every effort to contact members if a space becomes available.

We thank you in advance for your continued cooperation.
