running club
The recently introduced Running Club meets on a Tuesday and Thursday evening at 6pm. The run normally takes an hour and is led by the inspirational Nikki Regan. The aim of many of the current participants is to train for the Jane Tomlinson Run to be held in York on August 2nd 2009.
However, it doesn’t matter if your not training for anything in particular – just join in the fun. Free for members!
At Roko York we are currently running two fantastic courses available for our members to attend.
Roko boxing
Roko Boxing is 6 weeks of 1 hour training sessions where you can learn boxing techniques & skills, from the basic punches and combinations, to choreography; using defence, footwork, head movement and rhythms, as well as intricate skills with focus mitts.
It's a fantastic workout and fun to do, non confrontational. If you'd like to learn how to use boxing as an effective way to get in shape or want take out some aggression on the bags safely and effectively, then this is for you.
Only £36 for six one hour sessions with our trainer.
Maximum of six spaces on each course.
Current courses, which take place inside the boxing ring, are as follows:

bootcamp
06.45-07.45 Monday to Fridays
This is your Two-week boot camp.
One hour a day, five days a week, for two tough, fantastic weeks.
What you'll need; Alarm Clock, Running shoes, Water.
What to expect.
Each day is different, designed to work on various areas of the body and spirit to improve your overall health. The outdoor training can include one or all of the following techniques:
Stretching, Running / walking, Rowing, Boxing, Spinning, Stair climbing, Resistance training, Free weight exercises Bands/tubes or Body Bars, Ab’s, Kettle Bells and all-around core training, Skipping.
Final Day; Graduation - Congratulations!
You and your squad have achieved your objective! Receive the coveted Boot Camp T-shirt that only a graduate can earn. Your efforts may even earn you an honour at the awards ceremony.
Boot Camp has been designed with safe and effective exercises, stressing proper form, technique, and safety. Our expert staff puts your health and fitness first, and will be happy to modify your workouts so that any pre-existing injuries don't prevent you from attaining your goals now. Please ask at reception for more information
Thai Boxing
Our fitness instructor Colin is running a range of Thai Boxing sessions each week. There are two different courses which includes a beginner’s course and a technique class.
Each course is £36 for a 6 week block.
The courses will improve your energy levels, flexibility, balance and co-ordination, as well as teaching you the techniques of Thai Boxing.
This is a different and fun way to train so if you would like more information just ask Colin next time you are in the gym.
