Chiswick pilates

Pilates Pilates was developed over 80 years ago by Joseph Pilates who believed his method used the mind to control the muscles.

Pilates focuses on the development of core postural muscles which help keep the body balanced and which are essential to providing support for the spine. Joseph Pilates created "The Pilates Principles" to condition the entire body: proper alignment, centering, concentration, control, precision, breathing, and flowing movement.

Pilates is a safe yet affective form of exercise that can improve your strength, flexibility and overall mobility through a series of low repetition, low impact stretching and conditioning exercises. It is designed to strengthen and lengthen the body's muscles with emphasis on reducing the occurrence of back pain and injury.

The practice of Pilates should result in an improvement to your posture with your every day movement becoming more efficient. It can also result in improved performance in your chosen sport. Pilates encourages you to develop an awareness of how your body works, which in turn helps your mind and body to work in harmony.

Pilates is appropriate for all ages because it tones and strengthens the muscles without impacting the joints. It improves posture and strengthens the parts of the body that age attacks.

Pilates forms a key part of the studio class timetable at Roko Chiswick Bridge and we currently run 10 Pilates classes each week. This should mean that if you interested in joining Roko to attend Pilates classes that we have plenty to accommodate your busy schedule.
